What the great outdoors offers in tranquility, it lacks in electrical outlets. Blue Freedom wants to solve this modern day dilemma with the “the world’s smallest hydropower plant,” which promises to offer renewable energy through flowing water.
Measuring just 7.87 inches in diameter and weighing in at 0.88 pounds, Blue Freedom is a 3-D printed, micro energy turbine that converts fluent water’s kinetic energy into stored energy.
According to Blue Freedom, the turbine can generate five watts of energy with an output of one ampere — or enough energy to power a standard smartphone for ten hours from a one-hour recharge. Blue Freedom can power any product that comes with a rechargeable battery though the degree of charge depends on each devices energy demands.
